The Small Plane in Pink Morning Light

3. Three premises of Civic AI

Civic AI begins from interdependence: humans thrive in caring environments; even polarized communities can find uncommon ground; and smaller, context-specific AI systems may serve people better than an all-powerful, universal system.

4. The human mind is irreplaceable

His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s response, as Caroline summarizes it, is not anti-technology. AI can support us in the world; what remains irreplaceable is the human mind’s creativity, changeability, and living capacity to respond.
